OKX to discontinue spot margin trading in Futures mode

Published on 28 Oct 20262 min read

Dear OKX users,

To further enhance your trading experience, OKX will discontinue support for spot margin trading in Futures mode from 5:00 pm on November 24, 2026 (UTC+8). The exact timing is subject to the actual effective time.

After the adjustment, you will no longer be able to open new cross or isolated spot margin positions in Futures mode. If you wish to continue spot margin trading, you may switch your account to Spot mode, Multi-currency margin mode or Portfolio margin mode and use spot margin trading in cross margin mode.

Please note:

  • If you already hold cross or isolated spot margin positions in Futures mode, the system will not forcibly close them after the adjustment. You may close these positions manually, but you will not be able to place new orders to open new positions or increase existing positions.

  • If you have any unfilled regular spot margin orders intended to open or increase positions in Futures mode, the system will automatically cancel them between 15:00 and 16:00 on November 25, 2026 (UTC+8). Strategy orders, including TP/SL, trailing stop, iceberg, and TWAP orders, will not be automatically canceled. However, if they are identified as orders that would open or increase a position when triggered or executed, they will fail. Please review and manage your orders in advance.

  • This adjustment only affects spot margin trading in Futures mode. Spot trading, perpetual futures, expiry futures, and options trading will not be affected.

For API users

  • After the adjustment takes effect, API users who continue submitting orders to open or increase cross or isolated spot margin positions in Futures mode will receive an error message indicating that the feature is no longer supported.

  • The applicable error code and message will be provided in the relevant API update notice.

Please manage your open orders and positions in advance and adjust your account mode based on your trading needs.

Thank you for your continued support. OKX remains committed to providing you with better products and services.
